7 Days to Die Connection Troubleshooting
Server not showing? Players cannot join? Here is what to check, in order.
First, Check the Address
Most "cannot connect" reports are the address. Open the Overview tab and copy the "Server Address" row from Connection Info exactly - it is an IP address and a port, like 203.0.113.10:28100.
Your server is not on port 26900. GameGrid assigns every server its own port, so the port always has to be typed. A player who leaves it off gets a connection failure that looks like the server is down.
Players paste that into Play Game > Connect to Server > Direct Connect.
Server Not Showing in Browser
Set Server Visibility to 2 (public) in Settings under Basic. 0 is unlisted, 1 is friends only.
Give the server five minutes after a start. Check the Console tab for "GameServer.LogOn successful".
Check Region and Language in Settings - a player filtering on a different region will not see the server.
All the ports your server needs are opened automatically when it starts. There is nothing for you to forward.
Could Not Retrieve Server Information
Usually the server is not up, or the address is wrong. Check the status badge and re-copy the Server Address.
If the server has just restarted, wait a minute - it is not ready until the game has finished loading the world.
This message can also mean the server has SteamNetworking disabled. The platform clears that setting on every start for exactly this reason, so if you are seeing it on a server that has been restarted since, open a ticket.
Connection Timed Out
Traffic is not reaching the server. On GameGrid the firewall rules for your instance are created automatically on start, so there is nothing on your side to open.
Have the player try from another network if they can. Some school, work and campus networks block game traffic entirely.
If one player can connect and another cannot, the problem is on that player's side. If nobody can, open a ticket with your Service ID.
EAC Connection Failures
If a player gets an Easy Anti-Cheat error, they and the server must be on the same game version. Check the Admin tab's Game Updates card for your build.
Have the player verify their game files through Steam. That repairs a broken EAC install.
If you turned EAC off to run mods, players whose own client insists on EAC may need to launch the game without it. Easy Anti-Cheat is in Settings under Basic and defaults to on.
Console and Epic Players Cannot Join
They can, once crossplay is on. It is off by default: turn on Enable Crossplay in Settings and restart. Note that it caps the server at 8 players, needs Easy Anti-Cheat left on, and cannot be combined with mods.
If the server refuses to start after you enable it, one of those rules is broken and the start result says which - usually the player cap. Full explanation: Crossplay on GameGrid.
Console players cannot type an IP, so Server Visibility must be public (2) for them to find the server in the in-game browser.
When to Contact Support
If you have tried all of the above, open a ticket with:
Your Service ID and Server Address, both from the Overview tab.
The exact error message the player sees.
The player's platform and game version.
Whether it affects everyone or one person.
