DayZ Whitelist and Priority Queue

Make a DayZ server whitelist-only, give supporters or regulars priority in the login queue, and use the right ID format for whitelist.txt and priority.txt.

Two Lists, Two ID Formats

ListPanel listFileID it takesSwitch
Whitelist: only these players may joinWhitelistwhitelist.txtDayZ player ID (44 characters)Activate Whitelist (enableWhitelist)
Priority queue: these players skip the login queueLogin Queue Prioritypriority.txtSteam64 ID (17 digits)On unless disablePrioritylist is true

Both lists are under Player Management on the Settings tab. The panel writes them to the files in the root folder of your server, next to serverDZ.cfg, and checks the ID format as you add an entry.

The two formats are the most common mistake. See Steam64, DayZ Player ID and BattlEye GUID for how to get each.

Setting Up the Whitelist

1. Add yourself first. Otherwise you lock yourself out.

2. On the Settings tab, open Player Management and use Add to Whitelist with the player's DayZ player ID. The Note is saved after the ID as a // comment, so whitelist.txt looks like this:

Aa0bBc1CdD2eEf3FgG4hH5iIj6JkK7lLm8MnN9oOp0Q= //Alex (owner)
Zz9yYx8XwW7vVu6UtT5sSr4RqQ3pPo2OnN1mMl0LkK= //Sam

(Example IDs only. Real ones are 44 characters, letters, digits, - and _, ending in =.)

3. Turn on Activate Whitelist in the settings, save and Restart.

After that, a player who is not on the list is refused when they try to join.

  • Turning the whitelist on or off needs a restart.
  • To take a player off the whitelist, use Remove next to their entry. If a change does not seem to apply on a running server, restart it.
  • Before relying on the whitelist, join with a listed account and have someone unlisted try too.

Vanilla DayZ does not let you customise the message a refused player sees. Put "whitelisted, apply on our Discord" in your server name or description instead.

How the Login Queue Works

When many players connect at once, DayZ loads them into the world a few at a time and makes the rest wait. Two settings control it:

SettingDefaultMeaning
loginQueueConcurrentPlayers5Players loaded at the same time
loginQueueMaxPlayers500Players allowed to wait

Players on the priority list are moved ahead of everyone else in that queue. Priority does not add slots: a full server is still full.

Setting Up the Priority Queue

DayZ's documentation gives priority.txt as Steam64 IDs separated by semicolons, all on one line, and the panel writes it that way:

76561198000000001;76561198000000002;76561198000000003

1. On the Settings tab, open Player Management and use Add Priority with the player's 17-digit Steam64 ID.

2. Restart. DayZ reads priority.txt when it starts, so changes do not apply to a running server.

This list stores no notes. Keep a separate note of whose ID is whose, for example in a pinned message in your staff Discord.

Finding a Player's IDs

  • Steam64 ID: the player can copy it from their Steam profile URL (the 17-digit number starting 7656119), or you can look it up on a site such as steamid.io from their profile link.
  • DayZ player ID: it appears as id= in the admin log (profiles/*.ADM, in the Files tab) whenever the player connects. You can also calculate it from the Steam64 ID.

Supporter Perks and Discord

A common setup is priority queue for supporters or long-standing members, and a whitelist for private communities. Maintain both under Player Management on the Settings tab. Keep one source of truth, for example a staff spreadsheet or Discord channel, and update the lists from it after each change, followed by a restart for priority changes.

Whitelist and priority lists are not part of your saved world, so a world or character wipe keeps them. A Wipe Server from the Admin tab rebuilds the whole server; download both files first if you plan one.
