Enshrouded Event Manager: Double XP Weekends

Run Enshrouded settings for a set time, such as a double XP weekend, and have them put back afterwards: scheduling, player warnings, presets and repeats.

What the Event Manager does

The Event Manager (Events in your server's sidebar) changes some of your server's settings for a stretch of time and then puts them back exactly as they were. A double-XP weekend, a Saturday night with more enemies and longer nights, a peaceful Sunday: each is a preset (the settings to change) and an event (when to apply it and when to end it).

Its tabs are Upcoming, Active, History, Presets and Commands (the Command Manager).

Enshrouded reads its settings only when it starts, so an event restarts a running server twice:

1. At the start time the server stops, the preset's settings are written, and it starts again.

2. At the end time the server stops, your own settings are put back, and it starts again.

Only the settings in the preset change. Everything else stays as you set it, and your user groups and their passwords are never changed by an event.

Scheduling an event

1. Make sure you have a preset: add a ready-made one or make your own (below).

2. On Events, press Schedule Event.

3. Choose a Preset. Show settings lists exactly what it changes.

4. Give it an Event Name (optional), shown in the Event Manager, the history and the Discord bot.

5. Under Schedule, check Your Timezone, then set the Start Time and End Time. The quick lengths 2 hours, 24 hours, 48 hours and This weekend (Fri 18:00 โ†’ Sun 23:59) fill them in for you.

6. Choose Repeat if you want it again: Every week or Every 2 weeks, from 2 to 8 times. Each one becomes its own event you can move or cancel separately.

7. Set the warnings and Start only when nobody is on the server (next section).

8. Read What will happen, which lists what happens at each time (both restarts for a running server), and confirm.

Warning your players

Enshrouded's server has no way to send a message to players in game, so GameGrid warns them in your Discord alert channel instead, when the GameGrid Discord bot is set up there. Set the channel with /config alert-channel. The form says so: "This game has no way to message players in game, so they are warned only in your Discord alert channel."

Under Warn players before each restart you choose when the warnings go out before each restart: 30, 15, 10, 5, 2 or 1 min before, in any combination. Unless you change it, players are warned 5 minutes and 1 minute before. Turn every time off to send no warnings.

See Discord Bot Setup and Restarts and Player Warnings on Enshrouded.

Start only when nobody is on the server

For Enshrouded, Start only when nobody is on the server is ticked for you, because players cannot be warned in game. With it ticked:

  • If players are online at the start time, the event waits and starts as soon as the server is empty. Your alert channel is told it is waiting.
  • If the server is never empty before the end time, the event is not applied at all.
  • The restart at the end always happens on time.

Untick it if you want the event to start on time whoever is playing.

Ready-made presets

On the Presets tab, Ready-made presets lists presets made for Enshrouded. Press Show, then Add to my presets on any of them: it becomes one of your own presets, to rename, change and schedule from its card. Adding one copies its settings; if a ready-made preset is improved later, your copy does not change.

PresetWhat it sets
Double XPCombat, mining and exploration XP at x2, the most the game allows
Blood NightExtreme enemy numbers, more attackers at once, attacks twice as often and harder, enemies that notice you from further away, a harder curse, 10-minute days and 30-minute nights, and double combat XP. Best as a two to three hour evening window
Peaceful SundayEnemies attack only when provoked, fewer of them, rare weather and no Shroud curse. Bosses still fight
Hardcore WeekendStarvation after 5 minutes of hunger, everything dropped at the tombstone, weapon wear, lower player health, tougher enemies and bosses, more of them, a harder curse, frequent weather, and double combat XP
Builder WeekendDouble materials and mining, crops and workstations at x2, no weapon wear, peaceful enemies and rare weather
Gatherer's RushDouble materials from loot, double mining effectiveness and double mining XP. Enemies are unchanged
Explorer's Week60-minute days and 5-minute nights, double time in the Shroud, double diving time and body heat, no glider turbulence, and double exploration XP
Night of the Shroud2-minute days and 60-minute nights, half the time in the Shroud, a harder curse and more enemies
Boss HuntBosses with double health and damage, players with x1.5 health, and double combat XP
Rune SaleUpgrades at half the runes, and every rune back when an upgraded item is salvaged
Fishing FestivalThe easiest fishing, food buffs that last twice as long, and rare weather
Taming WeekA startled animal keeps its taming progress, and crops grow twice as fast
Harvest FestivalCrops, workstations and food buffs at x2

There is also one preset for each of the game's own difficulty presets: Default preset, Relaxed preset, Hard preset and Survival preset. Each carries all of that preset's gameplay values for your server's game build, the same ones Start from a preset loads in Settings, so you can, for example, play Survival for a weekend and go back to your own values afterwards.

Two presets ask you to confirm first. Hardcore Weekend and the Survival preset can make players lose things, so each has an "I understand" box to tick before it can be added: players drop everything they carry at their tombstone when they die, and what is not recovered is lost; and starving players lose health until they eat.

What an event leaves behind. Settings go back exactly when the window ends, but what players did during it stays: XP earned, items gathered or dropped, upgrades bought, and wear on their gear.

Your own presets

You can also make a preset from scratch with + New Preset, choosing the gameplay settings to change and their values. The panel checks every value against what Enshrouded accepts before the preset is saved, and can show you the settings file it would write.

Settings GameGrid manages (the port, the folders and the Custom preset switch), your user groups, and the three Inventory & Storage settings cannot be put in a preset.

Repeating windows

The Repeat option above covers a set run of weeks. For a window that repeats with no end, such as Double XP every Saturday, use the Command Manager (the Commands tab). Because Enshrouded has no console, the one step it offers for this game is Open a Settings Window. See Scheduling Repeating Events with the Command Manager on Enshrouded.

Only one window can be booked or running on a server at a time. A scheduled step that fires while another window holds the server is refused rather than opening a second one.

Checking it worked

After the start restart, GameGrid reads back the settings the server printed in its log and compares them with what the event asked for. The event's log says Settings read back as expected when they match. If they do not, it says Settings check found a mismatch, the event shows as Failed, and your original settings are put back, rather than a weekend quietly running on values nobody chose.

From Discord

The GameGrid Discord bot can list the ready-made presets and add one (/preset library, /preset add), apply a preset now (/preset apply) and schedule and control events (/event). Applying a preset restarts a running server now and again when it ends, exactly as in the panel; a stopped server is not started. See The GameGrid Discord Bot on Enshrouded.
