The GameGrid Discord Bot on Enshrouded

Run your Enshrouded server from Discord: settings and user groups, events and presets, the map, the shop and kits, chat, and the two things it will not do.

The same bot, with Enshrouded's shape

The GameGrid Discord bot works on an Enshrouded server the same way it does everywhere else: the same commands, the same subcommands, and the same abilities you grant to Discord roles. Every command and the ability it needs is listed in Discord Bot Commands.

Setting it up is identical on every game: Discord Bot Setup and Discord Bot Permissions. There is no Enshrouded-only command; everything below is a command every game has.

This article covers what is specific to Enshrouded, and the two things that are deliberately missing.

Picking a server

Most commands take an optional `server-id`, and it autocompletes from your servers by name: you do not need a service number in your head. Leave it blank and the command uses the server bound to that channel (/config channel-server), or your default (/config default-server).

If you run one Enshrouded server, you can ignore the option entirely.

Set the alert channel first

Enshrouded gives a server no way to put a message on a player's screen, so the warnings before an Event Manager restart are posted in your Discord alert channel instead. Set it with /config alert-channel. Until one is set, the warnings have nowhere to go. See Restarts and Player Warnings on Enshrouded.

Running the server

CommandWhat it does
/statusServer status and live stats
/start, /stop, /restartStart, stop or restart it. Enshrouded saves the world on a clean stop
/serverDetails about one server
/consoleRecent console output: the game's own log and GameGrid's lines
/auto-restartView or set the automatic restart interval (6, 12 or 24 hours)
/check-updateWhether a newer game build is available
/backups list, create, restore, deleteBackups. It is /backups, plural

/console is read-only on Enshrouded, like the Console page. /command sends a console command on games that have a console; Enshrouded's server accepts none. /players is for the player lists GameGrid edits on other games, such as whitelists; Enshrouded keeps its bans inside the game. See The Enshrouded Console and Server Log.

Settings, including user groups

/settings view and /settings get read your settings, and /settings set changes a single value. Gameplay keys are written as in the file, for example gameSettings.playerHealthFactor. Every Enshrouded setting needs a restart, and the reply says so. See Enshrouded Server Settings.

User groups are a table setting, so they have their own subcommands:

CommandWhat it does
/settings table listYour groups, passwords masked
/settings table addAdds a group, starting from the game's own group of that name
/settings table editChanges a group's columns: reserved slots, permissions
/settings table removeDeletes a group
/settings table passwordSets a group's password
/settings table show-passwordShows one group's current password

Two details that matter:

  • A password is never typed as a command option. It goes into a private Discord form, so it never appears in the channel.
  • `show-password` answers only to you, in a reply nobody else in the channel sees. The reveal is recorded in your audit history as having happened, never with the value.

Reserved slots are checked against your server's current slot count, so you cannot reserve more slots than the server has. Give every group a different password: Enshrouded will not start with two the same. See User Groups, Passwords and Permissions.

Events and presets

CommandWhat it does
/preset libraryThe ready-made presets for Enshrouded, including one per difficulty preset, and whether each fits this server
/preset addCopies one from the library into your presets (recipe is its id). Presets that can make players lose things need accept:true
/preset list, /preset view, /preset deleteYour own presets
/preset create linkA link to the web editor, to build a preset of your own
/preset applyRuns a preset now, until the end you give
/event scheduleSchedules a settings window with a start and an end
/event list, /event statusWhat is scheduled and what is running
/event update, /event cancelChange or cancel a scheduled window
/event start, /event endStart a scheduled window now, or end a running one now
/event logWhat happened on a run
/command-scheduleRepeating schedules, such as a settings window every Saturday

A settings window restarts a running server twice: once when it opens, once when it closes. A stopped server is not started: its settings are written when the window opens and put back when it closes, and /preset apply says so in its reply. The replies say where your players are warned, and on Enshrouded that is your Discord alert channel only.

See The Enshrouded Event Manager and Scheduling Repeating Events with the Command Manager.

The map

CommandWhat it does
/map statusWhether the world map is ready, and what it can show for this server
/map linkA link to the live map in the panel
/map playersWho is online and where
/map regionA region's detail
/map shareWhether a share link is live. Never the link itself

/map status is the one to use after a game update: it says plainly whether the map is ready, still coming, or showing an earlier build's map.

Share links are made and revoked in the panel only: they are owner actions. See The Enshrouded World Map.

The economy

CommandWho uses it
/shop, /buyPlayers
/kits list, /kits show, /kits claimPlayers
/balance, /daily, /my-transactionsPlayers
/link, /unlinkPlayers
/shop-adminYou: add, edit, remove and list shop rows
/awardYou: give currency to a player
/economy-setup, /economy-configYou: set it up
/economy-earnYou: the earning rules
/economy-links, /economy-link-removeYou: manage links
/economy-stats, /refundYou

It is `/kits claim`, a subcommand, not /kit.

/buy and /kits claim tell the player their place in the delivery queue ("Queued: about N s (position P).") and edit the reply when it is delivered, which matters on Enshrouded because a large order is handed over in pieces. See How Items Are Delivered on Enshrouded.

/link has a character option that Enshrouded does not need: a player links by typing the code the bot sends as !link CODE in the in-game chat, and naming a character links nobody. See Linking Discord Accounts to Enshrouded Players.

/economy-earn is worth running early: on Enshrouded it refuses playtime, kills, deaths, levels and event participation with the reason, which tells you quickly that daily login, Discord activity and /award are what your economy runs on. See Enshrouded Economy Overview.

Chat

/chat-link sends your server's in-game chat into a Discord channel, and /chat-unlink stops it.

It is one way. The reply says so: "Game to Discord only on this game for now: in-game chat will appear here, but messages sent in this channel are not sent into the game." See Sending Enshrouded Chat to Discord.

The two things the bot will not do

No teleport and no give. Both work on your server, and both are panel actions only, the same choice made for DayZ.

That is deliberate rather than an omission. Moving somebody's character and putting items into their inventory are the two actions you would least want to fire from a mistyped chat command, and the panel gives them what a command line cannot: a map to click, a player list, the delivery plan, and a confirmation.

Use Give an item… and Teleport a player here… from the live map's point menu: The Enshrouded World Map and Teleporting a Player from the Enshrouded Map.

No message into the game, from any command. There is no broadcast for an Enshrouded server, because the game's server has no way to put text on a player's screen. Notices reach your players through your Discord alert channel instead.
