Enshrouded Live Map: Embervale and Your Players
A live map of Embervale for your Enshrouded server: places, regions and no-build zones, the players online and their bases, teleport and Give, and share links.
What the map is
Embervale is the same hand-made world on every Enshrouded server: there is no seed and no world-generation setting. So GameGrid draws the map once for each game build, from Enshrouded's own map data, and every server running that build gets it. Nothing is installed in your server and nothing needs a restart.
The map also shows the players who are on your server, where they are and which way they face, and the bases they have built. Enshrouded's own server does not report any of that; GameGrid's server module, which GameGrid installs on every Enshrouded server by itself, does.
The drawing is GameGrid's own rendering of the game's terrain data, not a copy of the in-game map screen, so it looks different from what players see in game.
Where to find it
Open your server in the panel and choose Live Map in the sidebar. The entry appears once the map for your server's game build is ready on your server's host; until then the page checks again every 30 seconds by itself.
If your server is on a game build newer than the newest map GameGrid has published, you are shown the newest one available, with a note: "This map is from game build X; your server runs build Y. The map for the new build is published after each game update, and this page picks it up by itself. Places added in the update are not on it yet."
What it shows
Use Layers to switch each one on or off. Your choice is remembered in this browser.
| Layer | Shown at first | What it is |
|---|---|---|
| Map imagery | Yes | The terrain, with hill shading, contour lines and the Shroud |
| Players | Yes | Everyone on the server: a dot in their own colour, a small arrow for the way they face, and their character name. Refreshed every few seconds |
| Bases | Yes | Each Flame Altar a player has built, as a flame labelled Base; an abandoned one is drawn faint |
| Ancient Spires (fast travel) | Yes | The fast-travel towers |
| Settlements | Yes | Towns and other settlements |
| Other places of interest | Yes | Flame Shrines, Elixir Wells, camps and other named places, with the game's own icons |
| Dungeons, caves and mines | Yes | Places underground |
| Region names | Yes | The regions of Embervale |
| Place names | No | Every place's name on the map. Point at a place to see its name either way |
| My markers (this browser only) | Yes | Markers you add yourself |
| Grid | Yes | A lettered and numbered grid, columns A to J from west to east and rows 1 to 10 from north to south, so you can say where something is: "D9" |
| World bounds | No | The edges of the playable world |
| No-build zones | No | Areas where the game does not allow building |
| Quest locations (spoilers) | No | Where quest objectives are |
| Placed loot containers (spoilers) | No | The few loot containers placed directly in the world |
Players and Bases appear in the list while your server's module is reporting them. The two spoiler layers are off by default because they show where things are before anyone has found them. All off hides everything but the terrain, and Reset to defaults puts the layers back as they started.
A base marks where its Flame Altar is. The server does not report how far a base's build area reaches yet, so no outline is drawn around it.
Players online
Under the layers, Players online lists everyone on your server, sorted by name: their character name, their Steam name after it in smaller text when it is different, and the grid square they are in. It updates by itself.
- Click a name to centre the map on that player, zoomed in to about two grid squares across; their dot gets a ring. Point at a name to ring their dot without moving the map.
- For anyone who can manage the server, the ⋯ beside a name has Give an item…, which opens the give window with that player already chosen.
- A player who has only just joined may be listed under No position on the map yet for a moment.
- A player the server module has not identified yet (just after they load in) is marked not identified yet, and has no Give an item… until they are.
- When nobody is on it says No players online. If the players cannot be read, for example because the server is stopped, it says why instead.
Using the map
| To | Do this |
|---|---|
| Pan | Drag, or use the arrow keys |
| Zoom | Scroll or pinch, the − and + buttons, or the - and + keys |
| See the whole world | Whole world, or the 0 key |
| Go full screen | Full screen, or the F key |
| See a place's details and copy its coordinates | Select, then click the place |
| Measure a distance | Measure, then click two points. Distances are in the game's world units |
| Add a marker of your own | Add marker. Markers are kept in this browser only, so other people do not see them |
| Reload what is drawn | Refresh |
The corner of the map shows the pointer's position as a grid square and the game's x and z coordinates, for example C7 · x 4592, z 3153.
The point menu
Right-click a point on the map for a menu of what you can do there. On a phone or tablet, long-press it. From the keyboard, focus the map and press the Context Menu key, Shift+F10 or Enter. Or use the toolbar's Point tools.
| Entry | What it does |
|---|---|
| Copy coordinates | Copies the point's x and z |
| Copy grid reference | Copies its square, for example C7 |
| Measure from here | Starts a measurement at this point |
| Add a marker here… | Puts one of your own markers on it |
| Teleport a player here… | Moves a player to this point (below) |
| Give an item… | Gives a player an item (below) |
Teleport a player here… and Give an item… are shown to anyone who can manage the server. When one cannot be used at that moment it is greyed out, with the reason underneath.
Give an item from the map
Give an item… opens Give an item: choose the Player (the one nearest the point is chosen for you), search the Item by the name players see in game, and set How many, from 1 up to 1,000,000. The button spells out what will happen: how many of which item, to which player. The items go into that player's inventory while they are in the game.
Any amount works, but it is handed over in pieces, because Enshrouded's item-create routine only ever makes one item, or one full stack, per request. Before you press the button the window shows the plan and roughly how long it takes, for example "Handed over as 2 full stacks of 1,000 and 3 single items".
A gift takes its turn in your server's delivery queue with your players' own orders, so it never blocks the shop. The result says "Delivered N." when it is done, or, for a large gift, how much has arrived so far and that the rest continues by itself.
If the result says the items may have arrived, look in game before giving them again. GameGrid confirms a delivery from the game's own answer and does not read the inventory, so it says so plainly instead of risking a double gift.
Teleport a player here
Teleport a player here… moves a player to the point you chose and stands them on the ground there. The window warns that they are moved wherever they are and whatever they are doing, possibly in the middle of a fight.
The ground comes from the world as the game shipped it, so anything players have changed is not known: a player sent onto a base lands on the terrain under or around it, a point over a cave lands on the surface above it, and a point right at the foot of a cliff can land them on its ledge. They are never put inside rock. When the ground at a point is not known, nobody is moved, and the message says to try a different point. In the Ancient Lands, the floating islands added in Enshrouded 1.0, the islands sit above the ground, so teleporting there is not offered yet: the message says it is a layered area.
Any number of players
GameGrid's server module tells your players apart, so Give and Teleport work with any number of people online, and each player gets only what is meant for them.
A server picks up the current module at its next restart. A server that has not restarted since then still runs an older build, which can only act while exactly one player is online; the map then says so under it: "Teleport and Give work only while exactly one player is online on this server (a current limit of the module)." With more on, the menu entries are greyed out and nothing happens in game. Restart the server at a quiet moment and the limit is gone. The module is installed and updated for you; there is nothing to switch.
Metrics layers
When player statistics are switched on for your server, the map's layer list also offers Density (where players spend time), Trails (the paths they took) and Deaths / Kills (where players died, and where kills were made if the game reports kills). They start switched off; tick one to draw it under the map's markers. They read the last 7 days (Trails: the last 24 hours, for the 20 players who travelled furthest). For any range, a player picker and a replay of the trails, open Metrics and its Travel tab. These layers are shown only to you in your panel, never on a public share link. See Metrics: Your Server's History.
Sharing the map
Below the map you can create a public link to it, for your community's Discord or website. You choose what a link shows, and every part is off until you tick it:
| Part | What a visitor sees |
|---|---|
| Status | Your server's name and how many players are online |
| Map | The map of Embervale |
| Landmarks | The Ancient Spires, the settlements and the region names. No dungeon, chest, quest or Flame Shrine location |
| Players | A dot for each online player. No names |
Bases and your own markers are never on a share link.
A link can expire after 24 hours, 7 days or 30 days, or never. A server can have up to five links at a time, and revoking one stops it working immediately. Links are made and revoked in the panel only; the Discord bot and the Customer API can only report whether one is live.
Ownership
Under the map, in the panel and on every shared page, is this notice: "This map is drawn from Enshrouded's own game data. Enshrouded, Embervale and their map content remain the property of Keen Games GmbH. WDC GameGrid is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Keen Games."
