Teleporting a Player from the Enshrouded Map
Teleport a player to any point on your Enshrouded map from the control panel: how to do it, how the landing spot is chosen, where it will not go, and messages.
What it does
Teleport moves a player's character to a point you choose on your server's Live Map, and stands them on the ground there.
Enshrouded has no console and no /tp, so this is not a command being sent. GameGrid's server module, which runs inside your Enshrouded server, moves the character.
How to teleport somebody
1. Open Live Map from your server's sidebar.
2. Open the point menu at the spot you want the player to go:
| How | Where |
|---|---|
| Right-click the map | Mouse |
| Long-press the map | Phone or tablet |
| The toolbar's Point tools | Any device |
| The Context Menu key, Shift+F10, or Enter on the focused map | Keyboard |
3. Choose Teleport a player hereโฆ.
4. In Teleport a player here, pick the player, read the note, and press the button. It names the player and the grid square and coordinates they are going to.
The message Done. means the player was moved.
What it is good for
| Situation | Why teleport helps |
|---|---|
| A player is stuck | Wedged in geometry, under the map, or in a spot they cannot glide out of |
| A player is lost | A new player deep in the Shroud, a long way from anything |
| Running an event | Gather everyone at the same place without a twenty-minute walk |
| Support | Get somebody back near their base after something went wrong |
How the landing spot is worked out
This is the part worth understanding, because it explains both why it is safe and where it is not.
Enshrouded's own "find a good spot" search does not reliably put a player on the ground: in GameGrid's tests it left a player 50 to 60 metres up, and the fall killed him. So GameGrid does not use it.
Instead, GameGrid reads the terrain height from the map it publishes for your server's game build, takes the higher of the ground at the point you chose and the highest ground within 2 units of it, and puts the player 1.5 units above that. They land on their feet. It was checked in a valley and on a slope, with no fall damage either time.
Where it will not put somebody
The heights come from the world as the game shipped it. That has two consequences, and neither is something you can configure away:
- Not onto anything players built or dug. A base, a bridge, a platform or ground somebody has dug out or built up is not in the shipped terrain, so a point on top of one is treated as the ground underneath. Teleporting "onto the roof" puts the player on the ground below.
- Not into caves or tunnels. The height is the surface, so a point over a cave lands on the surface above it, not inside.
One edge worth knowing: if you choose a point right at the foot of a cliff, the highest ground within reach may be the top of that cliff, so the player lands on the ledge and can walk off it for a short drop. They are never put inside rock. Choose a point a little further out from a cliff face.
When it is available
| Condition | Why |
|---|---|
| The server is running and the player is on it | A character only exists on the server while its player is connected |
| A map for your game is published | The landing height comes from it. After a game update the newest published map is used until the new one is out |
| You can manage the server | Teleport is shown only to people with that permission |
Any number of players. GameGrid's server module tells players apart, so you can teleport one player while others are online. A server still on an older module build can only teleport while exactly one player is online, and the map says so under it; a restart fixes that.
After a game update, teleport keeps working. The landing height comes from the latest map GameGrid has published, so until the map for the new build is out, a spot the update reshaped can land a little high or low. If the module fails repeatedly on the new build, Teleport and Give are paused on that build only, a note under the map says they are paused after a game update, and our team is alerted. See Enshrouded Game Updates on GameGrid.
Messages you may see
| Message | What it means |
|---|---|
| Done. | The player was moved |
| Check in game: the player was moved, but the game may replay their previous movement input once | It worked, and the player may drift a step. Check in game, and do not repeat the teleport |
| Not done: the height of the ground at that point is not known | Nobody was moved. Try a different point; if it happens everywhere, the map is not ready on your server's host yet |
| Not done: that point is in a layered area (floating islands above the ground), where heights are not measured yet | Nobody was moved. In the Ancient Lands the islands float above the ground, and the map holds only one height for each point, so the landing height cannot be known yet. Pick a point outside that area |
| Not sent: item delivery and teleport are paused on this server after a game update | The server module failed repeatedly on your server's new game build, so it is paused on that build. Nobody was moved. Our team has been alerted, and it works again by itself once fixed |
| Not done: more than one player is online | Your server is still on an older module build. Restart it at a quiet moment, or try again when only one player is on |
| Not done: the server module could not yet tell for certain which character is this player's | They have only just joined. Try again in a moment |
| That player is not on the server | Nothing was sent |
Every "Not done" message ends with "Nothing happened in game", and that is literally true: nothing was sent to the player.
Who can do it
Teleport is a panel action for anyone who can manage the server. Every teleport is recorded in your server's audit history, and a server takes at most 30 such actions a minute.
It is deliberately not in the Discord bot or the Customer API, the same choice made for DayZ. Moving somebody's character is not something to leave behind a chat command.
Tell the player first
A character that moves with no warning reads as a bug, or as somebody messing about. A quick message in Discord before you do it saves a confused report afterwards.
Nothing is announced in game: Enshrouded has no way for a server to put a message on a player's screen.
