How to Reset Your Palworld World

Option 1: Fresh World, Keep Players

This gives you a new world map but preserves all player levels, Pals, and inventory. Use this when you want a fresh map but don't want players to lose their progress.

1. Stop the server.

2. Back up the current world folder (in case you change your mind).

3. Open the Files tab and navigate to Pal/Saved/SaveGames/0/<WorldGUID>/.

4. Delete Level.sav and LevelMeta.sav. Do NOT delete the Players/ folder. Do not use "Delete Savegames" on the Admin tab for this option - that removes the player data too.

5. Restart the server. It generates a new world with the same player data.

What you lose: all base buildings, world objects, and resource deposits. What you keep: player levels, inventory, Pals in Palbox, and guild memberships.

Option 2: Complete Reset

This wipes everything - world and players. Use this for a complete do-over.

1. Stop the server.

2. Back up the current world folder.

3. Delete the entire world folder (the <WorldGUID> folder under Pal/Saved/SaveGames/0/).

4. Restart the server. It generates a completely fresh world with no player data.

What you lose: everything. All players start as new characters. All bases, Pals, and progress are gone.

Option 3: Wipe via GameGrid

The fastest method, and there are TWO controls on the Admin tab that are easy to confuse. Pick the right one.

"Delete Savegames" is the one you almost certainly want. It permanently deletes all save data and leaves the game files and your settings alone - the panel equivalent of Option 2, with no file management. Click it, confirm in the dialog, then start the server and a fresh world is generated.

"Wipe Server" is much larger: it resets the server to a fresh INSTALL, not just a fresh world. Your bundle slot and paid time are preserved, but everything on the server goes, including your settings and any mods you added. Use it when you want to start from nothing, not for a world reset.

Neither can be undone. Both ask for confirmation first. Take a backup before either.

Before You Reset

Always back up before resetting, from the Backups tab with "Create Backup Now". Even if you are sure, keep one in case you or your players change your minds. Automatic backups from before the reset are also retained - the last 7 backups or 7 days, whichever comes first - so do not leave it long if you want to go back.

Note that a restore rolls back your SETTINGS as well as the world, because PalWorldSettings.ini lives inside Pal/Saved. Re-apply any settings changes afterwards.

Communicate with your players before resetting. A world reset is disruptive - give them notice so they can say goodbye to their bases and Pals.

If you only want to reset specific players (not the whole world), you can delete individual player files from the Players/ folder. Each file is named with the player's UID. Stop the server, delete the specific player file, and restart. That player will join as a new character while everyone else keeps their progress.
