Windrose Plus Settings Catalog

Full reference for all Windrose Plus settings sections: multipliers, RCON, query, admin, POI scan, live map, player stats, co-op scaling, and more.

Settings Overview

The Windrose Plus tab in your GameGrid server panel exposes 127 settings across 14 sections: gameplay multipliers, RCON, server query, admin Steam IDs, POI scanner, live map, diagnostics, player stats, co-op scaling, rest effects, swimming, shared combat effects, hearth bonuses, and talent trees. Those are the settings in the sidebar, and they are most of what this article covers; the last two sections cover the rest of the tab.

Windrose Plus is set up on its tab only. Its own files — windrose_plus.json, windrose_plus.ini and the windrose_plus.*.ini tables — are deliberately hidden from the Files tab, because deleting or breaking one silently stops the mod loading on the next start, and one of them holds the RCON password. Everything you might want from them is on the tab: the 127 settings below, a read-only "Set by GameGrid" block, and "Per-item overrides (advanced)" for single weapons, foods, gear, creatures and ships. Both are described at the end of this article.

Settings fall into two kinds. The gameplay multipliers and the seven INI-backed sections — player stats, co-op scaling, rest effects, swimming, shared combat effects, hearth and talent trees — are written into a rebuilt PAK and need a server restart. The rest — server query, admin Steam IDs, POI scanner and live map — are saved without one. Changing the RCON password is also flagged as needing a restart, and so is Diagnostics: Windrose Plus reads its log level once, when it starts.

You do not have to work that out yourself. After you press 'Save Changes' the panel tells you which it was: 'Configuration saved. Restart the server to apply changes (PAK rebuild required).' or 'Configuration saved. Changes will take effect immediately.' Only the sections you actually changed are sent, so editing one runtime value does not drag a PAK rebuild in with it.

This guide covers all settings sections. For detailed guides on specific sections, see our multipliers guide and player stats guide.

Gameplay Multipliers (PAK rebuild)

Loot (default 1.0x, range 0.1-100): Loot drop quantity from chests, containers, and enemies.

XP (default 1.0x, range 0.1-100): Experience gain rate. Once it has been raised above 1.0, Windrose Plus refuses to lower it again - choose your rate carefully.

Craft Efficiency (default 1.0x, range 0.1-100): Higher = cheaper recipes (2.0 = half cost).

Cooking Speed (default 1.0x, range 0.1-100): Cooking, fermentation, and smelting speed.

Harvest Yield (default 1.0x, range 0.1-100): Resource node yield (berries, ore, wood, herbs).

See our multipliers guide for detailed usage and recommendations.

RCON / Admin Console (Immediate)

Enable RCON (default true): Enables the RCON listener for the web dashboard.

RCON Password (default: auto-generated): the password Windrose Plus itself uses. The panel’s "Open Dashboard" link does not ask for it — that opens with a one-time link from your GameGrid account — but anything reaching the dashboard directly on the game host logs in with it. Change to a custom password if desired.

See our RCON dashboard guide for details.

Server Query (Immediate)

Enable Server Query (default true): switches on the module that writes your server’s live status — name, version, player list, multipliers — into a file the Windrose Plus dashboard then serves at /api/status. It is not a Steam/A2S responder and it does not put your server into a game server browser; see Windrose Plus Server Query & Status API.

Poll Interval active (default 5000ms, range 1000-60000): Poll interval while players are online.

Poll Interval idle (default 30000ms, range 5000-300000): Poll interval while server is empty.

Admin Steam IDs (Immediate)

Admin Steam IDs (default: empty): Comma-separated list of Steam64 IDs treated as admins by Windrose Plus. Admins get dashboard access and in-game admin commands.

Format: 7656119XXXXXXXXX1, 7656119XXXXXXXXX2

Find your Steam64 ID using steamid.io.

POI Scanner (Immediate)

Enable POI Scan (default true): Background scan that builds a point-of-interest overlay for the live Sea Chart.

Rescan Interval (default 14400s / 4 hours, range 3600-86400): Seconds between rescans.

Live Map (Immediate)

Enable Live Map (default true): Writes live player and world-position data for the Sea Chart.

Player Position Interval (default 5000ms, range 1000-60000): How often player positions update.

Entity Position Interval (default 30000ms, range 5000-300000): How often creature/entity positions update.

Enable Public Map (default false): Despite the name, this does not put the map on the public internet. The Windrose Plus dashboard is firewalled to loopback on the host, so the only route to it is the Open Dashboard button in the control panel, and that requires panel access to this server. What this setting does is serve a map-only view at /public-map for people who already have that access — the map and its overlays, no console and no admin API. A link sent to a player who cannot sign in to the panel will not load.

Public Map Token (default: empty): An extra check on that same panel-proxied view. It is not a shareable URL — there is no address a player outside your panel can reach.

Diagnostics (restart required)

Log Level (default info; one of debug, info, warn, error): How much Windrose Plus writes to its own log file. 'debug' records everything the mod does and is what support will ask for when something is going wrong; it is noisy, so it is not a level to leave on. 'info' is the normal level. 'warn' and 'error' record only problems.

This is the one setting whose values are a fixed list rather than a range, and the panel refuses anything that is not one of the four. Windrose Plus reads the level once, when it loads, so a change does not take effect until the server restarts.

Player Stats (PAK rebuild)

Max Health (default 320), Max Stamina (default 150), Stamina Regen Rate (default 40), Max Posture (default 40), Posture Regen Rate (default 20), Stagger Defence (default 3), Armor (default 0), Defence Power (default 90), Max Carry Weight (default 99999), Passive HP Regen (default 0), Max Corruption Resistance (default 0.65).

See our player stats guide for detailed descriptions and recommended configurations.

Co-op Scaling (PAK rebuild)

Enemy Health Modifier (default 0, range 0-10): Enemy health bonus per extra player. 0 = no scaling.

Ship Enemy Health Modifier (default 0, range 0-10): Ship enemy health bonus per extra player.

These settings control how enemy difficulty scales with additional players. Set to 0 for no scaling (enemies are the same difficulty regardless of player count), or set above 0 for increasing difficulty.

Rest Effects (PAK rebuild)

Passive Health Regen (default 3): HP regen per tick while resting at campfire or bed.

Stamina Regen Multiplier (default 1): Stamina regen multiplier while resting.

Stamina Regen flat (default 80): Flat stamina regen while resting.

Extra Stamina (default 0): Bonus stamina while resting.

Swimming (PAK rebuild)

Health Damage flat (default 12): Flat HP loss per tick while swimming.

Health Damage percent (default 0.02): Percentage of max HP lost per tick while swimming.

Health Damage Tick Period (default 1s): Seconds between HP drain ticks.

Stamina Drain (default -1.5): Stamina drain per tick while swimming (negative = drains).

Stamina Drain Tick Period (default 0.2s): Seconds between stamina drain ticks.

Shared Combat Effects (PAK rebuild)

Bleed DPS (default 25): Bleed damage per tick.

Bleed Duration (default 14s): Bleed duration in seconds.

Bleed Tick Period (default 1.5s): Seconds between bleed ticks.

Bleed Total Damage UI (default 350): Total bleed damage shown in UI.

Weakness Duration (default 14s): Weakness duration in seconds.

Weakness Value (default 0.15): Weakness effect strength (0.0-1.0).

Hearth / Campfire (PAK rebuild)

Hearth HP Regen (default 20): HP regen per tick near hearth/campfire.

Hearth HP Regen Tick Period (default 0.5s): Seconds between HP regen ticks near hearth.

Talents (PAK rebuild)

The largest section: the talent trees of the four specializations, Crusher, Fencer, Marksman and Tough Guy. Each talent's values (damage and resistance modifiers, durations, radii, stack limits and thresholds) are a field of their own, labelled with the specialization first, for example "Crusher: Berserk Dmg Mod".

Damage and resistance modifiers are fractions, not percentages: 0.03 means 3 per cent. The default and the allowed range are shown beside every field on the Windrose Plus tab.

Like the rest of the INI-backed half, talents are written into windrose_plus.ini and the rebuilt PAK, so a change needs a server restart.

Set by GameGrid (read-only)

Below the Live Dashboard row, the tab shows a "Set by GameGrid" block with two values you can read but not change.

Dashboard port (set by GameGrid): the port GameGrid assigned to your server’s Windrose Plus dashboard. GameGrid puts it back every time you save, so a different number could never stick. Until one is assigned the block says "Not assigned yet".

Bind address (set by GameGrid): the address the dashboard listens on, which is how GameGrid’s own proxy reaches it for you. When nothing is set the block says "Not set (the mod’s own default)". Binding it anywhere else would break the Open Dashboard link, so it is not a setting.

You never need to open a file to find either of them.

Per-item overrides (advanced)

Windrose Plus can change single items — one weapon, one food, one piece of gear, one creature or one ship — through five tables of its own. The tab shows them under "Per-item overrides (advanced)", below the settings, with one tab for each: Weapons, Food, Gear, Creatures and Ships. Each tab is a plain text box holding that table.

Write one override per line, as Section_Item_Stat = number. A line shaped like Weapon_Cutlass_Damage = 1.5 shows the pattern (it is an illustration, not a promise that the game has that item). The words in the name come from the game’s own item list, so look up the item you want in Windrose Plus’s documentation; the panel cannot list them for you. A key has at least three parts joined by underscores, and the value must be a number.

You may also leave blank lines, add comments that start with ; or #, and group lines under a [Section] header.

Press the Save button under the text box (it reads "Save Weapons" on the Weapons tab) and only that table is saved; it stays greyed out until you change the text. If any line does not fit the pattern, nothing is saved: the panel lists each refused line by number and says what is wrong, so you can fix it and save again. A table can be up to 64 KB and 4000 lines.

A saved override applies at the next start of the server. The panel says so, and nothing restarts by itself.

If your server’s host has not been updated for this yet, the panel says that instead of showing empty tables, and the tables appear once the host is updated.
