How to Reset Your Windrose World
Two supported ways to start a fresh Windrose world — Delete Savegames on the Admin tab, or a new World Island ID — and exactly what each one keeps.
Before you start
A reset permanently removes every player’s progress, bases, ships and items on that world. It cannot be undone except from a backup.
Take a manual backup first, from the Backups tab: fill in a label so you can find it again and click "Create Backup Now". Wait for it to appear in the Manual Backups list with the state "verified" — a queued or failed one is not a way back.
Manual backups are never removed automatically, so a labelled one taken now is still there if you change your mind in a month.
Option 1: Delete Savegames (the supported route)
Stop the server from the status bar and wait for the badge to read "Offline". The platform refuses to delete savegames while the server is running, and will tell you so.
Open the Admin tab and find the "Delete Savegames" card. It names the exact paths it has resolved for your server and what it will keep, and shows their size. For Windrose the path is R5/Saved/SaveProfiles.
Click "Delete Savegames" and confirm. The platform takes a backup first and refuses to go ahead if that backup does not reach off-site storage, so there is always a copy even if you skipped the manual one.
What survives: R5/Saved/Config, R5/ServerDescription.json (your server name, password, invite code, player limit and region), your Windrose Plus installation and its settings, and your config and mods folders. Only the worlds themselves go.
Press Start. Windrose generates a fresh world on first load.
Option 2: Point the server at a new world
Deleting is not the only way to get a fresh world — you can leave the old one on disk and start a new one beside it.
On the Settings tab, under World, find "World Island ID". Clear it and save: a new world ID is generated for you. Restart the server and it builds a new world under that ID.
The old world is still in R5/Saved/SaveProfiles, so you can switch back later by choosing it again from the same dropdown — the panel lists the worlds it has detected. That also means it still takes up disk space, which is the trade against Option 1.
After the reset
Everyone starts fresh. The new world is procedurally generated, so the island layout is different.
Your server settings are unchanged — name, password, player limit, region and invite code are all in ServerDescription.json, which neither route touches.
If you have Windrose Plus, its settings survive both routes, but the live Sea Chart is drawn from the old world’s terrain. Run wp.mapgen from the Windrose Plus dashboard console on a fresh boot to rebuild it.
If you change your mind, restore the backup you took: Backups tab, find it in the Manual Backups list, click "Restore". The restore stops the server, takes a safety copy of the current state, swaps the old world back in and starts it again.
Editing files by hand
You can delete the contents of R5/Saved/SaveProfiles from the Files tab with the server stopped, and it works — but Delete Savegames is better in every respect: it takes a guaranteed off-site backup first, it refuses if that backup fails, it knows exactly which paths are the save and which are your settings, and it records what it did.
If you do it by hand, do not delete R5/Saved itself. The game expects that folder to exist.
