Setting Up Your First Server
How to create, configure, and start your first game server on GameGrid.
Creating a Server
After logging in, go to your Dashboard. Find your plan card and click "+ Add Server" โ that is the button that opens Create New Server with the plan already chosen. If you have no servers yet, the sidebar offers "Create One" instead.
Pick your game from the Game dropdown. Only the games in your planโs group are offered, and the page says which group that is.
Give the server a name โ up to 64 characters. It is what you will see on the dashboard and in the sidebar.
Click "Create Server". The card first reads "Setting up" while capacity and a port block are reserved, then provisions while the game files download, and finally settles as stopped. It is left stopped on purpose so you can configure it before anyone can join.
Starting Your Server
From the Dashboard, find your server card and click "Manage" to open the server panel.
Press Start in the status bar at the top of the page. That bar is on every tab of the server panel, so you never have to go looking for it.
The badge changes from "Offline" to "Starting" and then "Online". How long that takes is up to the game.
Before you start it for the first time, it is worth visiting the Settings tab โ the server name players see, the password, the difficulty and the player limit all live there, and some of them only apply to a world that has not been created yet.
Connecting to Your Server
The address is on the server card on the Dashboard, in the status bar at the top of every server tab, and in the Connection Info panel on the Overview tab. Copy it from there rather than assembling it yourself โ the Overview tab also shows the game port on its own line.
Give players that whole address, host and port together. If your game issues a crossplay join code instead of accepting an address, the Overview tab shows the code as "Crossplay Join Code" once the game has been issued one, which takes a minute or two after start.
If you set a server password in Settings, players need it to join.
The same Connection Info panel carries your FTP/SFTP host, ports, username and password, and your Service ID โ the number to quote in a support ticket.
