General Connection Troubleshooting
Diagnose and fix connection problems: cannot connect, high ping, timeouts, and port issues.
Basic Checks
Open the server panel and check the badge in the status bar reads "Online". If it is Offline, press Start; if it is Failed, go to Server Will Not Start.
Double-check the address. Players must use exactly what the Connection Info panel on the Overview tab shows, host and port together — do not retype it from memory, and do not assume the port is the game’s usual default. Every server here is given its own port block, so two servers of the same game on this platform never share a port.
If you set a server password, players must enter it correctly.
Check your player limit. If the server is full, new players cannot join until someone leaves.
Whitelist and Ban Checks
If the whitelist is enabled, only listed players can join. Add players on the Settings tab under Player Management, using the identifier that game asks for — a Minecraft UUID rather than a name, for instance, because names change and UUIDs do not.
Check the ban lists in the same place. A banned player cannot join even with the correct password, and on Minecraft an IP ban shows the player "Your IP address is banned" rather than anything about the server.
Windrose has no player lists in the panel. Its admin access is Steam64 IDs on the WindRose Plus tab, and it has no whitelist.
Client-Side Checks
Players must use the same game version as the server. The build your server is running is shown on the Admin tab, in the Game Updates card — not on the Overview tab.
A version mismatch usually means the client updated and the server has not. If the Admin tab offers an "Update available" badge, press "Update now"; if auto-update is on, it will be applied on its own shortly.
For modded Minecraft servers, players must install the same mod loader (Fabric, Forge or NeoForge) and the same mods as the server.
For Palworld, 7DtD, Valheim and Windrose, players must use the same game version. Steam updates the client automatically.
Have the player restart their game client and router.
When to Contact Support
If the server shows "Online" but no one can connect after all checks above, open a support ticket.
Include: your server name, your Service ID (bottom of the Connection Info panel on the Overview tab), the address and port, the game, and the exact error message players see.
Attach a WinMTR report (see the Platform Guides section) - this rules out network issues.
Include the time the issue started and any recent changes you made.
