Kits on Enshrouded

Build starter kits, rewards and event prizes for your Enshrouded server in the Kit Manager, set how often players may claim them, and how they arrive in game.

What a kit is

A kit is a named bundle of 5 to 10 items a player claims in one go. Kits are the easiest part of the economy to get value from, because one well-made kit does the job of twenty shop rows. On Enshrouded, where players earn mainly from daily logins and Discord activity, a kit is often worth more to them than a wallet.

A server can have up to 20 kits.

Ones that work well on an Enshrouded server:

KitWhy
StarterA first set of tools, a torch and some food, so a new player is not scavenging for ten minutes before they can do anything
BuilderA few stacks of blocks for someone who only wants to build
RebuildWhat a player needs after dying somewhere they cannot get back to
Event prizeWhat you hand the winner of a build competition
Farm startSeeds and materials, so farming is worth starting

Building one

1. Open Economy โ†’ Kit Manager and press + New kit.

2. Fill in the kit:

FieldWhat to put in it
Kit nameWhat players see in the list. 1 to 80 characters. Keep it short
DescriptionOptional. One line telling players what it is for, shown beside the kit in Discord
PriceWhat a player pays from their wallet, a whole number. 0 makes the kit free, and the list shows it as Free

3. Under How often can each player take it?, set the limits (next section). The Players will see: line underneath is word for word what your players are told, so read it.

4. Under What is in it, search Add an item by the name players see in game and click an item to add it. Set How many for each line, from 1 to 1,000. A kit needs at least 5 items and holds at most 10. The picker reads the same catalogue as the shop; if it is empty, press Scan Game Items on the Shop tab first.

5. Press Create kit.

A new kit is live straight away: players can claim it as soon as you create it. To check one before players see it, switch it off in the Live column of the list as soon as it is created, check it, then switch it back on.

The two limits

Under How often can each player take it? there are two separate caps. You can use either, both or neither.

  • Limit the total each player can ever take: once a player has used this many claims, they are gone for good. Set it to 1 for a one-time kit.
  • Limit how often, with a reset: a fresh allowance every day or every week, for example 1 time per day. Days and weeks are counted in UTC, so the reset happens at the same moment for every player (midnight UTC).

A kit with no limit at all can be claimed again and again. A free one with no limit is a one-day economy: everybody takes everything on the first evening and the shop becomes pointless.

The kit list

The list shows each kit with the command that claims it (/kits claim <name>) and how many items it holds, its Price, How often (the same sentence players see), Claims (how many times it has been claimed so far), and Live, which switches it on or off for players. Edit changes a kit; Delete removes it.

Switch a kit off rather than deleting it when you want it out of Discord. Deleting a kit also deletes the record of who has already claimed it, so if you make a kit with the same name again, every player who already had it can claim it again.

How a player claims one

In Discord:

  • `/kits list` shows the kits available to them
  • `/kits show` shows one kit's contents before they commit
  • `/kits claim` takes it

It is /kits claim, a subcommand, not /kit.

Two things have to be true for a claim to arrive:

1. They are linked. See Linking Discord Accounts to Enshrouded Players.

2. They are on the server. Items go into the character the server is running, and in Enshrouded a character is only on the server while that player is connected.

If they are not online the claim is not lost: it waits in the queue for up to 7 days and arrives when they join.

How a kit arrives

This is the Enshrouded-specific part, and it explains why a big kit is not instant.

The kit's lines queue together in your server's delivery queue and are worked through in turns with everyone else's orders.

Within a line, the amount is handed over as full stacks plus single items, because Enshrouded's item-create routine only ever makes one item or one full stack per request; it takes no quantity at all. Each request takes about a tenth of a second.

Kit lineRequests
500 Flint Arrows, stack 5001
1,000 Rough Stone Blocks, stack 5,0001,000 singles
5 swords5 (weapons are one per slot)

The practical rule: a kit of full stacks is quick; a kit of many separate items, or of amounts below a full stack, takes a moment. In the second row, asking for *less than one full stack* of something that stacks high means a thousand single items. Round a line like that to a full stack.

The player's Kit Queued reply in Discord says how it is going and edits itself when it finishes. If they log off part way through, the rest pauses and resumes when they come back, within the 7 days. Nothing is lost, and nothing is charged twice.

Stack settings change what a kit is worth

Kit lines are quantities, not stacks: the number on a line does not change when the stack size does. So if you raise Maximum stack size, a line that used to be exactly one stack of stone is now less than a stack, and is handed over as single items.

After changing that setting, re-read your kits: set lines to the new full stack where you want a stack, and check that a generous starter kit has not become an absurd one. The shop's Stack column shows the stack size on your server.

Things worth avoiding

  • Do not make the rebuild kit free and generous. Dying stops costing anything, and so does being careless.
  • Do not price a kit below the sum of its shop rows unless you mean to. Players will buy the kit and ignore the shop.
  • Check the limits before you announce it. Changing them afterwards does not take back what has already been claimed.
  • Claim it yourself once before announcing. It is the only way to see what actually lands, and how long it takes.
